"Common sense is a must have" 2009-07-25
By Edgar O. Moreno (Sarasota, FL)
Glenn Beck's common sense is a must have for everyone. After reading this I couldnt imagine anyone still going along with the politics as usual that goes on in Washington. This would be a great book for high school kids to read. We have to stop the youth from being brainwashed. Freedom is the only way to go. Thank you Glenn for giving us common sense.

Great book, though very short. Beck reveals almost everything that politicians don't want the American people to know about their policies. A great book if you are a republican or democrat. An especially great book if your an American who cares about this country.

By EskimoBlueDay (Upstate New York)
Got this for my Cannon Powershot S500. It's wonderful. Took it on a bunch of snorkeling trips in the Caribbean and Florida Keys and it worked perfectly. It's great too if you are hiking in the rain forest or at a waterfall or at the beach, etc. Keeps the camera perfectly safe.

"Great value and tons of fun" 2009-01-10
By Seth Tristan Gary (Seattle, WA)
I've had an S500 for years. My first one broke, so I got another. I've used the DC800 waterproof case in Mexico, many islands in Hawaii, Bali, and I'm now in Belize for diving. Make sure it's cleaned very well with clean water immediately after every use. Don't let ANY sand near it; it will scratch and can obstruct a secure seal. I keep mine protected in bubble wrap and in a box when I'm not using it. Good fun!!

"Take care of it and it'll take care of you. " 2007-08-06
By ScientificDiverChick
Nothing is foolproof however, if you read the care instructions for this case, it's pretty close to being so. I have owned the Canon Powershot S410 for three years, it has recieved HEAVY use, for the last year I have used it with this case while diving. I ended up in an intense program at college that involved more diving than some people do in years. I have only been diving a year, but I already understand that if you don't take good care of your gear it will break, even if you do, sometimes it will anyways. You need to double check things all the time to stay as safe as you can, same goes with this camera.

Saying all that, I myself know you forget things sometimes or just can't pay attention to certain things when you need to. I have taken my camera on probably 55 of my dives (anywhere from 0-91 feet) as well as quite a few snorkeling and even two hiking trips. I take it on every dive I can as I tend to miss incredible picture opporunities if I don't. Many of my dives were not focused on taking pictures, and my case has been somewhat beaten up from this as well as some difficult entries and exits on dives. I clean my o-ring every dive and put a thin layer of silicone grease when it seems dry, I had to perform some alterations on it due to a broken button on my camera (Which I would advise you to get your camera repaired if any buttons are broken because I was terrified my alterations would damage the seals, superglue was involved, which I believe the fumes can corrode some materials, anyways, life is easier if your camera is in good shape too.) but despite my questionable care of my case, it has worked amazingly well, I understand that at some point it will probably leak, though I think the camera will break long before as three years in my possesion has left it making a grinding noise when the lens opens and without the use of it's original LCD screen (which if any of you out there break one and have no warranty or don't want to pay for repairs, find someone experienced with computers, buy a replacement screen, and they might be able to fix it free.). The only real issue I have ever had with it would be some fogging problems in French Polynesia, which was fixed completely by merely closing and opening the camera case in an air conditioned room. Either way, both the camera and case have paid for themselves many times over in my opinion, especially with me being the owner.

Some advice would be to read instructions, take a class in underwater photography if you're serious about getting good pictures, and lastly, if you're looking for really amazing super high quality photos and a guaranteed camera housing, pay for it; buy an expensive underwater camera, and an expensive housing, flash, and all that jazz, as well as flood insurance. If you're looking for an all around show your family what you did on vacation (or in my case at school) and maybe even produce some incredible lucky shots that look prize-winning quality go ahead, buy one of these cameras, get the housing, and flood insurance if you feel you need it (I decided I didn't because the camera had already taken thousands of pictures and it was probably going to break soon anyways.) and go have some fun exploring the underwater, or rainy, world!

This case has out lived an S400 and S500.

Well worth the $170 price tag.

 "More reasons to dive" 2005-09-07
By B. Porter (San Francisco, Ca USA)
I'm really impressed, I bought the SD-110 a year ago as a quick small digital for trips. I was never planning to take it diving. The housing is really impressive, I've done 4 dives in the month I have had the waterproof case (WP-DC10) and it works great.

I was so excited to try it out I went in the water with a full memory card. I got down to about 35ft and took my first picture and "Memory card full". It was easy to navigate all the buttons and I was able to delete while following my buddy. Taking pictures of fast moving fish doesn't work out and the range of the flash is 1-3ft. My deepest dive so far was 109ft off the Monterey coast, and I worked as if it were in 10ft of water.

 "Exceeded expectations" 2005-08-30
By ShutterBug (Oklahoma, USA)
Canon makes a great underwater housing for a reasonable price. I purchased this for a recent trip to Grand Cayman and Cozumel. I didn't go Scuba diving on this trip, but I did take the camera snorkeling (diving to depths ~20ft). It worked flawlessly and I got some pictures I was very happy with! One thing I did not anticipate was the use the camera got out of the water. Going from AC to the hot humid outdoors, my EOS rebel fogged up (condensation) and even after 30 minutes I couldn't take good pictures. With the SD110 in the UW housing, I just wipped the housing's glass portal with a lens tissue after it had warmed up a couple of minutes and I was able to take clear pictures.

The instructions are pretty good, but it took me a while to figure out how to take out the O-ring seal for cleaning/lubing. Once I figured it out, it wasn't so hard.

The SD110 may be getting a little old, but it still takes decent pictures and even with the housing I don't have so much money tied up in the system that I would be devestated if it was lost or stolen. I will probably upgrade to the SD550 or SD500 (they both use the same batteries as the SD110) with the WP-DC80 or WP-DC70 housing at some time in the near future, but I will definitely keep the SD110 and WP-DC10 as backups.

 "The coolest thing EVER!!!" 2005-08-22
By Erin S. Moses
If you swim in the ocean, lake, or just like to be around water and want to take pictures, this is the thing to have, it's worth every penny!! The only thing you can't do when it is in the case is upload pictures to your computer, change out memory cards and charge the battery. It is truly amazing. I've had my eye on this for a very long time and with a cruise coming up I knew I had to get it. I'm a snorkeling enthusist and this is definatly the thing to have. Instead of those silly disposable cameras that limit you to only 27 pictures, and you haven't got a clue of exactly what you've taken a picture of, you can take as many as your memory card will allow you. There is also a filter for the flash you can slide into place to help dispurse the light to get that ideal picture underwater!

"Works well, Durable, Can Take a Beating" 2005-06-01
By Chris Stankis (Maui, Hawaii)
I bought the SD110 camera, and since I live in Hawaii, I HAD to have the underwater housing for it. This housing is great, because it allows you to use all the function buttons while the camera is protected in the housing.

You can power up the camera, shoot, zoom, change modes and do everything but change the battery, change the memory card and upload your pics onto a computer while the camera is sealed up.

I was able to take lots and lots of underwater and surf pictures and movies with this camera. And I was very happy with the results.

I treat my gear pretty rough, I was in the water almost every day, not cleaning it all the time and although the housing did get scratched and a little banged up, it still worked great, and it didn't affect the quality of my photos.

Then one day while rescuing a swimmer in distress, the camera was knocked off my kayak into the ocean. I went back a few minutes later to search for it. But was unable to find it....I was really bummed.

Four months later, a friend of a friend is diving in the same area that I lost the camera, and saw something wedged in the reef, encrusted with coral and alge. He pulled it out and took it back up on the boat-it was a digital camera in the housing. When he opened up the housing and took out the camera.....it powered right up !!!!

So he took a few shots on the boat and then took the camera home. He showed it to his friend, and they flipped through the pictures as he told him the story of finding it. One of the pictures that I had taken on the day I lost it, was an underwater self portrait. When my friend saw that: he knew who's camera it was !!!

So he calls me...and tells me the story. I was amazed. We figured that the camera and housing had been lying on the bottom for four months in over twenty feet of water, and there had been a few storms that had produced some very large surf in that area, so it had likely taken a beating. But it still maintained its water tight integrity. We were all very amazed at how durable it turned out to be !!

I had already replaced the camera with the Canon S500 and it's dedicated housing (mostly so I could get higher resolution photos). After uploading the photos onto my computer, I let the guy who found it keep it. He has cleaned up the housing, and it stays still water tight, the only thing wrong with it (besides a little surface crud on the exterior of the casing), is that a few of the buttons are jammed and so they do not work (the zoom, shutter and power buttons are fine). But not bad at all for a camera that had been on the bottom of the ocean for several months.

This is a great case...well made, allows the use of ALL the normal features. Very sturdy and has good action from all the buttons, etc. No real cons, although you may want to take along some of those small silica packets to try to handle fogging issues. I think that most cases have fogging issues and I have not tried the silica packet solution, but it seems like it would work.

 "A dive must!" 2007-06-07
By speich101 (Chicago, IL)
I was a little nervous at first, but I tested it as the manual suggested and it worked great. I took it on two dives on Maui for a about 45 minutes each. Pictures look great. I didn't notice any issues with fog or heat, but I did have my S70 to auto power down & display set to turn off after a short time.

I also recommend getting the Canon WWDC1 Weight for Canon Waterproof and All Weather Cases. I had all four mounted & didn't even notice the camera was there.

This thing is awesome!!!! You can access every function of the camera through the waterproof housing. I use it with my Canon Powershot S70 and it works flawlessly. I bought it for my honeymoon in Hawaii. Did some diving and snorkeling and always had it with me. I've had it as deep as 100 feet in Lake Huron and have never had a problem with it. I love it!

 "Amazing Product, Perfect Results!!!" 2006-11-07
By Francisco R. Breijo (Union City, NJ)
At first was quite worried about the fact that even though this is a Canon Product, they don't warranty or guarantee that it will work. However, if you follow the instructions properly, you will have a flawless photo session. Used it while snorkeling with sharks and rays. Perfect Pictures and Movies (with sound) under water. The Only CONS are as follows: There is no way to turn on or turn off the camera once inside the housing. You must open the case, open or close the cover and then reinsert in the case and close. This leads to the seconds issue. Camera gets very very hot when inside the case for a substantial time length. 1.5 hrs or more. Becuase, of this extreme heat, it causes fogging on the lens, or condensation in the case. However, All in All, this product was unbelievable. Took outstanding images, and is a genuine Canon product, so you know it is a great product.
